Reservations

Reservations may be made through the Central Mountain Air Reservations Office, this website or your travel agent. CMA’s airline code is 9M. We utilizes an e-ticket (paperless) system. Reservations are stored in the Computer Reservations System (CRS) as a Virtual Coupon Record (VCR). Travel itineraries and a receipt will be emailed, faxed, or mailed to you at your request. Flight schedules are subject to change without notice, therefore please reconfirm your flights 24 hours before your departure date.

Fare Rules & General Conditions of Carriage

The availability of lower fares is limited, and seats may not be available on all flights. Advance purchase may be required and, usually, the earlier you book, the lower the fare. While most fares are offered as one-way, some may apply to return travel only with a minimum stay required. Passengers MUST change or cancel the ticketed itinerary not less than 2 hours before the first ticketed departure time; otherwise the ticket has NO VALUE. Customers who no-show their flight will forfeit the fare paid.

Additional Fees

Like all airlines, CMA is required to collect taxes and fees for a variety of purposes, including national security, infrastructure enhancement and airport maintenance. Airlines collect surcharges to offset the volatility of operating costs, such as Canada’s air navigation services, fuel, de-icing facilities, and varying airport charges. The amount you pay in taxes, fees, and surcharges on a ticket is based on your itinerary (e.g. the number of times you board a new flight and at what airport).

  • Carrier Surcharges: Carrier surcharges are included in the Air Transportation Charges. They are collected by airlines to partially offset volatile, unpredictable or fluctuating operating costs and fees.

  • Air Travellers Security Charge (ATSC): The Canadian Parliament enacted the Air Travellers Security Charge Act to fund increased government expenditures for air travel in Canada.

  • Airport Improvement Fees (AIFs): Many airports in Canada have implemented Airport Improvement Fees (AIFs). In some cases, airports collect fees at departure; in others, the fees are collected at ticketing and are reflected in the additional charges of your fare.

Check-In

Recommended Check-In Time: 90 minutes

Check-in Closes: 45 minutes.

Present at Boarding Gate: 20 minutes.

Passengers must present one government issued picture ID that includes the passenger’s name, date of birth and gender. Alternatively, they must show two government-issued non-photo IDs showing the passenger’s name, and one that shows the date of birth and gender. Some examples of valid government-issued ID are passport, citizenship card, driver’s license, birth certificate. For more information, please click here.

To assist with on-time departures for you and your fellow passengers on your flight, we recommend the following check-in and gate arrival times before the scheduled departure time. It is the passenger’s responsibility to allow sufficient time for security processing at larger airports, where line-ups can be longer during busy times.

You must obtain your boarding pass and check-in any baggage by the check-in deadline, and be available at the boarding gate by the boarding gate deadline. Be familiar with the check-in and boarding gate deadlines below. Failing to meet these deadlines may result in the cancellation of your reservations and make you ineligibile for denied boarding compensation.

Baggage

Our route network covers a wide variety of communities, some with limited scheduled service. Some stage lengths are long, and aircraft may have limited baggage/cargo capacity. While we try to accommodate all pieces of baggage on the flight with you, you may be asked by the airport agent to prioritize one bag. We would request you pre-pack a priority piece with your most essential items.

Restricted and Prohibited Items

Carry-On & Skycheck Baggage Allowance

Each passenger is allowed 2 pieces as part of our Carry-on Baggage Program; one (1) Skycheck (Standard Article) and one (1) Personal Article. Oversized carry-on bags are not permitted on our aircraft and may cause flight delays for all passengers. Please ensure your carry-on bags are within the maximum allowed size as indicated below; they are required to fit in the sizing device at check-in and boarding gates.

You may carry onboard items which fall within the two-piece carry-on/skycheck allowance:

⦿ One (1) carry-on bag or suitcase and;

(Maximum size 23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm (9 in x 15.5 in x 21.5 in) Wheels and handles included.) Maximum weight 10 kg (22 lb)

  • One (1) personal article like a briefcase, laptop computer, diaper bag, camera case, cartons or other similar items 1

    • (6 cm x 33 cm x 43 cm (6 in x 13 in x 17 in) Maximum weight 10 kg (22 lb))

⦿ Regardless of your destination, you can bring 1 standard article + 1 personal article.

⦿ Maximum dimensions include wheels and handles.

⦿ Although no weight limit applies to carry-on baggage, your bag must be light enough that you can store it in the overhead bin unassisted.

⦿ Please place the personal item we have identified with a white tag under the seat in front of you.

⦿ If you’re travelling with an infant on your lap, you can bring 1 additional standard article for your child’s belongings.

Important: All carry-on baggage rules are strictly enforced. All bags that do not respect maximum sizes will need to be checked, and additional checked baggage charges may apply.

3.2 Carry-On Baggage 3.2.1 General Carry-On Baggage Each passenger is allowed 2 pieces as part of our Carry-on Baggage Program; one (1) Skycheck (Standard Article) and one (1) Personal Article. Skycheck items must be identified and tagged at time of check-in. Items which do not fit into the sizing device or exceed our carry-on allowance will be placed in checked baggage and applicable baggage fees may be collected. Standard article (1) Personal article (1) Maximum size 23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm (9 in x 15.5 in x 21.5 in) Wheels and handles included. 16 cm x 33 cm x 43 cm (6 in x 13 in x 17 in) Maximum weight 10 kg (22 lb) 10 kg (22 lb) Description (examples not limited to) • Bag • Backpack • Suitcase • Sport racquet • Garment bag • Small kennel* • Purse, handbag • Briefcase • Camera • Laptop • Infant food, items • Small musical instrument

Checked Baggage

A Checked Bag is defined as a single item with a maximum weight of 23kg (50lb.) and with a maximum linear dimension of 158 cm (62in.) Linear dimensions are calculated by adding together the bag’s largest outside height, width and length – wheels and handles included.

It is recommended that documents and medication be packed in your carry-on baggage. All prescription medications must be labelled with the names of the patient, the medication and the issuing medical office or pharmacy.

For safety reasons, dangerous goods must not be packed in checked or carry-on baggage, except as expressly permitted. Dangerous goods include, but are not limited to, compressed gases, corrosives, explosives, flammable liquids and solids, radioactive materials, oxidizing materials, poisons, infectious substances, and briefcases with installed alarm devices. For security reasons, other restrictions may apply.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Any baggage, the weight of which exceeds the applicable maximum allowance, will be accepted for transportation only upon payment of the applicable excess baggage fees.

Overweight Baggage Exceeding 32kg (70lb): For aircraft loading purposes, we will not accept single pieces of baggage weighing more than 32kg (70lbs). For bags exceeding 70lb, weight must be distributed between other pieces of luggage before checking in for your flight.

Excess baggage will only travel subject to space availability. Please arrive at the airport at least 120 minutes before departure if checking additional bags, or overweight, or oversized pieces. Ski/snowboard boots (in a proper boot bag) and skis/snowboards, count as one item together (each appropriately tagged). Items such as mobile assist devices, car seats and strollers are not considered excess baggage items.

  • Fractions of a pound of excess weight will be increased to a full pound.

  • Charges are applicable from the time baggage is accepted for transportation to when baggage is checked.

Baggage may be tagged to Central Mountain Air destinations only. For other destinations, passengers may be required to collect their luggage and re-check it for the connecting flight.

Passengers should inspect their baggage at pickup. Should a passenger discover damage to their luggage, they should notify Central Mountain Air personnel within one (1) hour of its arrival. Despite taking as much care as possible in the handling of your baggage, we are not responsible for nicks, scratches, missing pull straps, zipper damage, scuff marks, damage to wheels, soiling, manufacturing defects or other damage resulting from over-packing or spillage of packed items.

Infant Baggage Allowance

When an adult is travelling with an infant not occupying a seat, they may check a child restraint device (car seat) and stroller with no additional charges. If a seat is purchased for the infant, regular baggage allowances apply.

Personal Electronic Devices

⦿ Personal electronic devices (PEDs), including cameras, mobile phones, drones, laptops, tablets and camcorders.

⦿ Spare cells or battery packs are normally used for camera equipment, mobile phones, drones, power tools, power banks, etc.

⦿ Battery Safety

● All cells and battery packs must be individually protected to prevent short circuits, e.g.:

○ Exposed terminals can be taped over.

○ Individual cells or battery packs can be in their original retail packaging or stored in a protective pouch or case, or a separate plastic bag.

⦿ Exception - Only the following devices are permitted in or as checked baggage:

● Electric toothbrushes and/or shavers

● Large medical devices, such as a portable kidney dialysis machine.

Airport Shopping and Duty-Free Purchases

You can travel with duty-free liquids, gels or cream products of more than 100 ml in your carry-on, provided that they have been sealed at the point of purchase in a Security Tamper Evident Bag with the receipt inside.

Duty-free items in reasonable quantities do not count towards your carry-on baggage allowance for your next flight.

If you want to leave the airport and return later for your connecting flight, you can take your duty-free purchases with you as long as you don't open the sealed bag. When you return, you will need to go through security again. A receipt must accompany all purchases and the security bag must not be tampered with or opened prior to going through security at a transfer airport. You should be aware that the Security Tamper Evident Bags are valid for a maximum of 48 hours.

Pivot is not liable for any products opened or confiscated during transit or disembarkation.

Liquids, Gels and Aerosols

Safety regulations limit the quantity of liquids, aerosols and gels that can be transported in your carry-on baggage. To speed up security screening, please ensure that the liquids, personal/toiletry items and non-solid food in your carry-on are packaged properly before arriving at the airport.

⦿ All liquids, gels and aerosols, pastes, lotions, creams, drinks and other items of similar consistency must be in containers with a capacity no greater than 100 ml (3.4 oz).

⦿ Containers must be packed in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 litre.

⦿ Only 1 bag is allowed per traveler and must be taken out of carry-on baggage for inspection at airport security.

⦿ Exemptions will be made for medications, special dietary requirements and baby food in reasonable quantities. Duty free purchases such as cigarettes, alcohol and perfume are also permitted in reasonable quantities, provided that they have been sealed at the point of purchase in a Security Tamper Evident Bag with the receipt inside.

⦿ Containers larger than 100 ml will not be accepted, even if they are only partially filled.

Battery-Powered Mobility Aids and Medical Devices

If you are travelling with your own mobility aid or medical device you will be able to bring them free of charge in addition to the standard baggage allowance.

For battery acceptance details, please refer to the Batteries section on the Restricted and Prohibited Items page.

BATTERY-POWERED MOBILITY AIDS

Non-spillable or lithium-ion batteries for battery-powered mobility aids (e.g. wheelchairs) are accepted in checked baggage, but require special handling. We do not transport spillable (wet cell/acid) batteries, nor any battery that is damaged or leaking.

See our Mobility and Wheelchair Assistance page for more information.

PORTABLE BATTERY-POWERED MEDICAL DEVICES

Batteries used to power portable battery-powered medical devices (e.g. a Personal Oxygen Concentrator (POC) or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)) may be carried onboard to power these medical devices, but are subject to approval prior to transport. See the Oxygen Needs page for more information.

Food and Perishable Items

You can bring solid foods like sandwiches, fruit, nuts, etc. on board. However, liquid foods like soups, pudding, jams, sauces or yogurt, are subject to the same restrictions as all other liquids in your carry-on.

Perishable items such as seafood (including shellfish such as crabs, lobsters, crayfish, mussels, shrimp and ocean plant life such as kelp), raw game meat and other perishable foods will be accepted on Pivot flights as long as they are properly packaged and meet the baggage weight and size guidelines.

HOW TO PACK

⦿ Perishable foods must be suitably packed in leak-proof containers that are able to withstand normal handling without refrigeration and changes in pressure and temperature.

⦿ Seafood, whether fresh, salted or frozen must be packed in durable, watertight containers and have a double leak proof barrier, e.g. a leak proof, tear-resistant, polyethylene bag wrapped in absorbent material in a leak proof box.

⦿ Styrofoam coolers or other plastic foam containers carrying items that may leak during transit will not be accepted as checked baggage.

⦿ CMA airplanes do not have refrigerators on board, so plan for methods to keep your perishables cool, if required.

⦿ If your carry-on items require refrigeration, they should be packed with an acceptable coolant, such as a gel pack under 100 ml or frozen vegetables. Your perishable items cannot be packed with wet (regular) ice or brine.

⦿ If you are planning to use dry ice to keep your perishables fresh, please note that it falls under Dangerous Goods for air transport and must be declared at check in to ensure that the packaging meets all safety regulations and standards. For more details, refer to the Dry Ice section on our Restricted or Prohibited Items page.

Changes in air pressure, long flights or delays may compromise perishable items. Pivot assumes no liability for any perishable items or the damage they may cause.

Media Audio/Visual Equipment

IN CARRY-ON BAGGAGE

A bag containing media camera equipment will count as one piece of your standard carry-on baggage allowance. They are exempt from the sizing device restriction imposed on other carry-on baggage, however, if carried onboard, must be stowed in accordance with Transport Canada and FAA safety regulations. Camera equipment cannot be secured in a seat.

IN CHECKED BAGGAGE

When presented by a representative of a network or local television broadcasting company, sports organization or a commercial filmmaking company, camera, film, video, lighting, and sound equipment will be accepted at standard checked baggage service charges.

The maximum size and weight allowances are subject to Pivot’s standard baggage policies. Checked baggage weighing more than 32 kg (70 lbs.) and/or exceeding 292 cm (115 in) combined height, length and width will not be accepted.

Medication and Medical Items

Your health and peace of mind are important to us, so there’s no problem with bringing medication with you on board. However, to ensure a smooth journey, please take note of the following recommendations in regards to your prescription and essential non-prescription medication:

⦿ For optimal safety and health, always carry your medication with you in your carry-on luggage, in an easy-to-access area, rather than in checked luggage.

⦿ CMA aircrafts do not have refrigerators on board, so plan for methods to keep your medications cool, if required. You can use gel packs or frozen vegetables, but not wet (regular) ice.

⦿ Although not required, it is recommended that you have a letter from your medical practitioner confirming the type of medication with prescribed doses, what the medication is for and any other medical items required, such as syringes.

⦿ The prescription medication must be in its original packaging, pharmaceutically labelled to clearly identify it as being prescribed for and belonging to you.

⦿ Carry a repeat prescription so your medication can be replaced in the event of loss, damage or insufficient supplies.

⦿ Please alert our cabin crew if you have used any needles during flight so they may provide you with a disposal container.

⦿ Battery-powered medical equipment (i.e CPAP or sleep apnea devices), Personal OxygenConcetrators (POCs), and Syringe or needle for personal medical use (i.e Epipen) are allowed onboard providing the needle guards are intact, and they are accompanied by the prescription medication with a printed label identifying the medication name and the issuing medical office/pharmacy.

Baby Stroller and Child Restraint Device

A passenger must be responsible for a child/infant in a restraint device and shall be seated in a seat adjacent to the seat to which the device is secured by the use of a safety belt. The passenger must be familiar with the manufacturer’s installation instructions, familiar with the methods of securing and releasing the child/infant into and from the device. The passenger must also be familiar with the procedures for evacuation with the child/infant (briefed by a flight attendant).

Transport Canada has increased the range of Child Restraint Systems (CRS) accepted on board to expand beyond those manufactured to Canadian and American standard. This now includes CRS manufactured to Australia/New Zealand and United Nations (UN) – Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) foreign standards provided that the criteria described below is met.

Collapsed stroller with diameter not exceeding 25.5cm (10inch) and length not to exceed 92cm (36inch). Child restraint device – if a seat has been purchased for an infant/child (Only approved CRS).

APPROVED FOR USE

⦿ Infant Restraint System: An aft-facing restraint system that is generally restricted to an occupant weight of less than twenty (20) pounds. Weight restrictions are specified on the system and can vary from one system to another.

Infant restraint systems are certified to Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 213.1

⦿ Child Restraint System: A forward-facing restraint system that is generally restricted to an occupant weight of twenty (20) to forty (40) pounds. However, some systems can accommodate occupants of a greater weight. Weight restrictions are specified on the system and can vary from one system to another.

Child restraint systems are certified to CMVSS 213

⦿ Convertible Restraint System: The term "convertible" is often used by manufacturers to describe restraint systems that can be used as an aft facing system for infants and as a forward facing system for children.

These restraint systems are certified to both CMVSS 213 and 213.1

⦿ Booster Seat: This is a term commonly used by manufacturers to describe both child restraint systems and booster cushions.

In order to be acceptable for use in an aircraft, all of the child restraint system labelling requirements must be met.

⦿ Combination Systems: Some manufacturers are marketing a system which is a combination child restraint system, and booster cushion.

When used as a child restraint system, it will include an internal harness system. The internal harness system must be installed and all child restraint system labelling requirements must be met to be acceptable for use in an aircraft.

When used as a booster cushion, the internal harness system is removed and it is not approved for use in an aircraft.

Combination systems are certified to CMVSS 213 and 213.2

⦿ CARES System: CARES is a belt and buckle device for older children who weigh between twenty-two (22) to forty (40) pounds.

It attaches directly to the back of the airplane seat and augments the aircraft’s seat belt. It can be used for all phases of flight: taxi, takeoff, turbulence and landing.

• To use, the child must be seated in a passenger seat.

• The red loop of the CARES restraint is slid over the seat, behind the tray table of the seat directly behind.

The tray table is then closed over the loop.

• The black shoulder straps of the restraint are placed over the child’s shoulders and the airplane seat belt is slid through the connector ends.

• The seat belt is then fastened and the chest clip of the restraint device is snapped shut.

This device bears a label stating: “FAA approved in accordance with 14 CFR 21.305(d), approved for aircraft use only”.

This device is also approved for infant use, provided the manufacturer limitations are adhered to.

⦿ Labeling Requirements: Restraint systems which are manufactured or sold in Canada must be affixed with a Statement of Compliance label which states that the system has been certified to CMVSS 213 or 213.1 and indicate the date of manufacture as being after January 1, 1981.

Labels cannot be defaced. Seats manufactured to US standards between January 1, 1981, and February 25, 1985, must bear the label:

“This child restraint system conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.”

Seats manufactured to US standards on or after February 26, 1985, must bear two (2) labels:

• “Restraint system conforms to all applicable ‘Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards’”

• “THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT” in red lettering

NOT APPROVED FOR USE

⦿ Booster Cushions: These devices are used for older children who have outgrown their child restraint system.

These devices are not approved for use in an aircraft as they do not meet the inversion testing provisions of the CMVSS and must be used with an automobile lap and shoulder belt.

Booster Cushions are certified to CMVSS 213.2

⦿ Child Vests or Harnesses: These devices are not approved for use in an aircraft.

⦿ Snugli: A trade name for an infant carrier that consists of a pouch, which holds the infant close to the wearer's body.

These carriers are not approved for use as a restraint system in an aircraft.

Other similar-type carriers are also not approved for use as a restraint system in an aircraft.

⦿ “Belly” or “Loop” Belt: A belt for infant use which is attached to an adult's safety belt by feeding the adult's belt segments through a loop on the infant's belt. The adult's belt segments are then fastened together, the infant placed on the adult's lap, and the infant's belt is then fastened around the infant. This device is not approved for use in an aircraft.

Drones

Drones are accepted in carry-on baggage on the condition that they remain turned off and safely stowed at all times. They cannot be used onboard the aircraft.

Drones are accepted in checked baggage: the lithium batteries must be removed from the drone and carried onboard in carry-on baggage. Drones must be properly packaged for shipping.

Sports Equipment

Sports equipment is considered part of a passenger’s baggage allowance.

  • Bicycles: There is a fixed charge of $75.00 (plus tax) per direction CAD for the carriage of bicycles on Central Mountain Air. To prepare a bike for travel, fix the handlebars sideways, remove the pedals and partially, deflate the tires. Bicycles will travel only subject to space availability and release of liability.

  • Golf Clubs: Golf equipment must be packed in a hard or soft-shelled container specifically designed for shipping. Central Mountain Air is not liable for damage to golf equipment that is not contained in a hard-sided case. The oversized bag fee will be waived. Applicable extra piece and overweight fees apply

  • Hockey, lacrosse and football equipment: A hockey bag packed to a dimensional size that exceeds the maximum linear dimension will be charged the oversize fee. Hockey bag and two sticks count as one checked item. Applicable extra pieces and overweight fees will apply.

  • Skis, Water skis, Snowboard: All items must be packed for shipping to prevent damage. Separate skis and boots will count as one checked item. The oversized bag fee will be waived. Applicable extra pieces and overweight fees apply.

  • Sports Balls: Inflatable sport balls such as basketballs, footballs, soccer balls and volleyballs must be deflated by 50% to avoid damage to the ball during flight. Live Animal Transportation

Effective December 15th, 2023 through January 6th, 2024 there will be an embargo on all pets in the cargo hold for both passengers travelling with pets and cargo being shipped. This restriction is for the Beech, Dornier and Dash-8 aircraft.

The embargo is necessary to accommodate the anticipated heavier baggage loads throughout the holiday season.

Please pre-register your pet for transportation by contacting Central Mountain Air Reservations (1-888-865-8585). If transporting an animal as cargo or checked baggage, please arrive at the counter at least 90 minutes before the flight departure time. Customers travelling with pets cannot use web check-in. There is an embargo from December 15 to January 6 against the carriage of any animal kennel as checked luggage or cargo.

Pet Kennels and Sizing

The Beechcraft 1900D can only carry kennels up to ‘Intermediate’ size. In contrast, the Dash 8 and the Dornier 328 can carry all sizes from ‘Small’ to ‘Large.’

The kennel must be leak-proof, escape-proof, well ventilated and be rigid enough to prevent animals from escaping through gaps at the seams or joints.  It must be large enough to allow the pet(s) to stand erect, turn around safely and lie comfortably in a natural manner. Kennels must be nose and paw-proof. Ventilation openings must be of a size that makes it impossible for the pet to get its nose or paws outside of the kennel. It must be adequately ventilated, clean, devoid of offensive odours and equipped with non-consumable absorbency pads. The kennel interior must be smooth with no edges at which the animal can gnaw or scratch. The door must close securely enough to prevent accidental opening. Strong zip ties for this must be used. For safety, the kennel must not have wheels. Any existing wheels must be rendered inoperable.

  • Pet(s) being carried must remain in the kennel at all times with the door closed.

  • A maximum of three animals, up to six months old (from the same litter and of equal size and strength), are allowed in the same kennel. There must be adequate room for all of them to rest naturally and move around.

  • Two animals of comparable size, weighing less than 30 lbs each, from the same household, may be shipped in the same kennel.

  • A mixture of pets is not allowed in the same kennel (i.e. cat and dog).

  • CMA will allow animal kennels only to be carried with a maximum of two connections (three flight legs) with a maximum of 10 hours of in-transit time.

The number of kennels and the size of the kennel accepted per flight are at the discretion of Central Mountain Air and are determined by space availability.

Care of Live Animals

While CMA makes every effort to protect live animals during transport, we shall assume no liability for the animals due to adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, delays, or other operational difficulties that result in the injury, sickness or death of any animal accepted for transportation.

CMA assumes no responsibility for the care or feeding of pets while in transit and does not have animal care facilities. Therefore, animals should not be brought in too early. It is essential that either the passenger or the shipper prepares the kennel and the animal in advance for transportation.

CMA cannot accept animals that are:

  • Emitting offensive odours

  • In heat

  • More than six weeks pregnant

  • Puppies or kittens less than ten weeks old

  • Not weaned

  • So heavily sedated that they cannot stand up

  • Appearing hostile, aggressive or agitated

Central Mountain Air reserves the right to refuse the transportation of any animal, which seems to be unsuitable for transportation.

Live animal transportation – as checked luggage

Central Mountain Air will endeavour to accommodate you and your pet on our flights. However, the aircraft types that Central Mountain Air operates, the total kennel weight, weather, embargoes and regulatory constraints may restrict Central Mountain Air from transporting your live animal to the destination. This may require you to be flexible with your travel plans involving a pet.

Bring your pet in a comfortable kennel (large enough to allow the animal to stand and turn around entirely), which is leak-proof. The maximum dimensions of a kennel that we will accept are 36” long x 26” wide and 28” high, with a maximum total weight of up to 100 lbs. (45 kg). Please see the applicable rates above.

Baggage limitations and rules apply, and the owner must accompany the pet on the same flight.

The baggage/cargo compartments on the CMA Beechcraft 1900D, Dash 8 (and Dornier 328 aircraft to a lesser extent) are heated from the filtration of the air from the passenger cabin. Therefore, it is possible that temperatures can drop below zero degrees Celsius during winter operations for extended periods.

When travelling with your pet during the winter months, it is recommended that a blanket be put in the kennel for warmth.

Live animal transportation – as carry-on luggage

When you fly on CMA, you may bring your cat or small dog in the cabin with you, provided the pet is small enough to fit and stay comfortably in its carrier under the seat in front of you.

The pet carrier must be leak-proof and well ventilated. Hard-sided carriers are preferred, but soft-sided carriers will be accepted. The carrier limitations are: Height: 8.5 in (22cm), Width: 15.5 in (39cm), Length: 17.5 in (44cm) with a maximum weight of 22 lbs. (10 kg), including the carrier. The carrier must be large enough to allow the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down safely and comfortably.

The pet must remain in the carrier, and the carrier must stay under the seat and closed at all times.

For the comfort and safety of our passengers, we can transport only one small dog or cat in the passenger cabin. Furthermore, in case there is a passenger with severe allergies, the carry-on pet may have to travel at the very back of the aircraft or the cargo hold.

Live animal transportation – as cargo

A charge of $137.50 plus taxes per kennel for non-stop or flights with one connection is applicable. A fee of $165.00 plus taxes per kennel on flights with two connections is applicable. All shipments of live animals as cargo must be prepaidPlease arrive 90 minutes before departure if you are shipping a live animal as cargo.

All cargo shipments, including kennels, are subject to space availability and are not guaranteed on board. Registration of the kennel for transportation as cargo is required by calling CMA Reservations at 1-888-865-8585. Arrangements must be made with CMA at least 24 hours in advance by the shipper.

The shipper must provide the total weight and dimensions of the kennel at the time of calling. Kennels, especially some larger ones, may not be accepted due to space availability, aircraft size or type and weight restrictions. The maximum size of a kennel for cargo transportation is Large ‘400’ with a total weight of 100 lbs. (45 kg), except the Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, which can carry a kennel up to Intermediate-size ‘300’.

Central Mountain Air is not able to transfer live animal kennels to another airline, and any such arrangements must be made with the other carrier. The kennels must be well constructed and be able to withstand impacts that may be caused by other shifting cargo shipments in case they come into contact with the kennel. Animals may not be accepted more than 3 hours before the intended flight’s departure time.

Due to the size of the restraint pouches onboard, we will only accept the following: “D” size bottle – dimensions: 360-415 litres; 4.4” diameter and 16.5” tall. The bottle must be full before boarding the aircraft on the first segment of the passenger’s outbound and return itinerary. It must also be placed in a cylinder pouch.

Notices

Irregular Operations

We offer scheduled services to a wide variety of communities using commuter and regional aircraft. Some communities are remote, have long stage lengths, and receive limited service. Aircraft capacity can be limited on certain routes, and further constraints can be assumed in adverse weather conditions. We appreciate your patience when irregular operations occur.

Overbooking Notice

Some scheduled flights may become overbooked, and there is a slight chance that a seat may not be available on a flight for someone who has a confirmed reservation. If a flight is overbooked, airline staff will ask for volunteers to give up their seat in exchange for compensation of the airline’s choosing. If there are not enough volunteers, the airline will deny boarding to other passengers under their boarding priority. With few exceptions, passengers denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation.
